Bundeena
- Is a village on the outskirts of Southern Sydney. It is located 29kms south of Sydney CBD and is part of the Sutherland Shire.
- It has a population of around 2,700 and is known for its artisans, small business tourism operators, and lovers of nature.
- The beaches at Bundeena are Jibbon Beach, Bonnie Vale Beach, Gunyah Beach and Horderns Beach.
- Bundeena is surrounded by the Royal National Park.
- Bundeena is Aboriginal, meaning “noise like thunder” – possibly in reference to the sound of the waves crashing on Hordens Beach. The original inhabitants were the Dharawal people.
- Bundeena is often described as the Sleepy Hamlet, the Byron Bay of the South, Jewel of the Pacific, Where the Forest Meets the Sea or the locals like to refer to it as “a way of life”.
Royal National Park
- Is the world’s second oldest national park – after Yellowstone, USA and Australia’s first National Park.
- It was founded by Sir John Robertson who was the acting Premier of NSW.
- The park has been burnt by bushfires on several occasions – 1994 was the worst and then in 2001 – the Black Xmas fires.
- All visitors should check out the park's rich diversity of fauna and flora. It also offers birdwatchers and animal lovers an unusual combination of native and introduced species of fauna.
- Perhaps the greatest reward of all awaits those who travel right through the Royal National Park, passing through Otford, to arrive at Stanwell Tops.
- On a clear day you can see down the coast to Wollongong. The jutting headlands of Coalcliff, Scarborough and Clifton make this ruggedly beautiful stretch of coastline one of the scenic jewels of the entire Australian east coast.
Seacliff Bridge
- Cost $52 million to build. The Seacliff Bridge links Coalcliff and Clifton. It has two lanes of traffic, a cycleway and a walkway.
- The Seacliff Bridge was officially opened on 11 December 2005. It replaced a section of Lawrence Hargrave Drive that was permanently closed in August 2003 due to regular rock falls.
- The Sea Cliff Bridge is one of only seven off-shore parallel to coast bridges in the world.
